Tensa4 hammock stand, new 2019 stock

One of us moved, and found a couple of old Tensa4 tubing stock boxes in a crawlspace forgotten. We’re selling as complete Tensa4 stands steeply discounted from current price. Stands include all components of normal Tensa4, all new production except the poles themselves, which are exactly as sold in 2019. There aren’t many available; don’t expect these in Spring.

What are the differences?

1. The #4 end segments have rubber tips resembling hardware store crutch tips, instead of the custom-molded 2-piece fittings we’ve used since 2020. They work fine, but if used long term on hard surfaces with heavy users, the tubing can eventually cut through the rubber. Also the compound is prone to leaving black marks on hard surfaces. So best used outdoors for longest service life.
2. The poles are connected through large holes in the tubing adjacent to the rubber tips, instead of through small holes in the fittings themselves. This results in a stand that is effectively a little smaller than recent production, still plenty roomy for 11′ hammocks but having a very low sit height for 12′ hammocks.
3. The tubing was factory cut, without any chamfer or polish, resulting in edges that are sharp. Not enough to be dangerous, but not up to current standard of friendliness. Scotch-brite on a polishing disc can make them buttery. We have de-burred the critical connector holes by hand to prevent Amsteel line damage, just like in ye olden times when all our socks and sweaters were loaded with sharp aluminum swarf.
4. The largest (#1) segments lack what we call a “parking hole” to help keep the collapsed sections neat with haphazard handling. These also lack the internal spacers that help keep spring buttons from getting whacked out of position if the packed stand is handled roughly, especially if dropped on end. These spacers are especially important in Tensa Solo, so we don’t especially recommend this old production for Solo conversion.

So: perfectly functional, but lacking the level of refinement of recent production. On the upside (depending how you value it), these tubes were extruded when our molds were quite new, and the bright anodizing process a little different, resulting in smooth silent telescoping action, where today’s production can have a little more “stiction” between segments, that prevent accidental sliding/disassembly with haphazard handling.

We warrant these against defects same as current product, but are otherwise sold as-is final, as described above. We will not accept returns within 30 days (other than warranty) as with normal product. We will not part out these kits, nor credit for unwanted components.
